As the founder of Nurses Moving Forward, I am very excited about now and the future for nurses. I want to kickoff the website with a gratitude opportunity for anyone to Thank a Nurse.
Nurses can thank other nurses too! As a nurse, I want to personally thank you nurse, and you, and all the rest of you. We have a difficult job, one that we are called into more like a vocation. I feel blessed to be a part of a wonderful group of people who have contributed their integrity, honesty, intelligence, intuition, energy and love in a huge ongoing endeavor to support the well being of others.
I will start by saying, “Thank You, Nurse” to the many nurses whom contributed to my well being, inspiration, career, knowledge, skills and advancement. I will list a few nurses whom I distinctly remember and whom touched my life in a way that mattered.
Thank you, Nurse…
- who gave my the lump of sugar after my shot, because I didn’t cry
- who gave me my first shot in the rump and taught me about distraction as a technique for easing a painful procedure
- who was my childhood friend’s mom; I wanted to be a nurse just like you
- each of you, who were my nursing instructors
- who was my clinical instructor who, in lieu of the clinical time on the unit, let me go to a class on assertiveness training because I was interested in it and required me to do my first seminar and teach what I learned to my classmates
- each of you, who were my first role model in my clinical rotations
- who was my partner in nursing school when we gave each other our first shot
- who was my head nurse and encouraged me to do what I needed to do for me
- who worked over time when I was too tired
- who covered my shift when I needed a day off
- each of you, who took care of my mom when I could not be there
- each of you, who have shared your knowledge to help me learn
Nurses appreciate seeing you smile, relax, laugh and glow. Nurses support your well being and celebrate with you as your health state improves. Nurses also honor your outer trials and accomplishments while witnessing your inner challenges, doubts and wishes. A nurse has and will likely be with you at many instances in life from your entrance to your departure. These fill their hearts with joy and make the job worth the effort. Thank you for sharing below to honor and thank a nurse.
Innovation & Actualization to you, Barbara
